This Effortlessly Cool 260-Square-Foot Paris Studio Rents for 900 Euros a Month

Nicolas Lecoeur has been renting this Paris studio apartment for two years: This is a typical Parisian apartment, of the Haussmann type, with moldings and Hungarian point-parquet flooring, located in the historic district of Montmartre.

This is a studio that I have occupied for two years, for my interior design studies.

When I acquired it, it was empty. There was only the kitchen separated from the rest of the apartment by a bar; since then the bar has been removed to allow for more space and easier circulation.

Most of the furniture was found in flea markets or at antique dealers. The history of objects is important to me. I think it brings a unique side to an interior.

I am 23 years old, and I have been studying interior architecture for five years. My interior is a playground for me; I like to change objects and acquire new ones. I work from the heart — each object has a story and that’s what is beautiful.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or fewer: Eclectic, Parisian, pure, personal.

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is undoubtedly the living room; it is very bright and comfortable, and you can see the Sacré-Coeur there.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last purchase I made for my apartment was the COMPONIBILI BIO furniture from Kartell by designer Anna Castelli Ferrieri — an icon of the ’60s.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Be yourself and work from the heart, and your interior will look like you.
