Small/Cool NYC is our award-winning home decor pop-up event that brings you smart and surprising tips and tricks for your small, cool spaces. In October 2023, we hosted an in-person shopping experience in Brooklyn’s Industry City that showcased decorating tips and tricks for small, cool spaces from some of our favorite designers and tastemakers.

The Small/Cool franchise originated as a contest back in 2005 when our Founder and CEO, Maxwell Ryan, sought to find the smallest, coolest real-life spaces around the world. We’ve since expanded the contest to the annual interactive in-person experience, giving our audience the opportunity to see how our favorite designers and design enthusiasts create beautiful small spaces.

After the pop-up event concluded, the majority of the products showcased were donated to our nonprofit partner, Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County. Habitat NYC and Westchester creates, preserves, and advocates for healthy, affordable homes and the generational equity-building opportunities that homeownership provides. Habitat NYC and Westchester’s ReStore is a retail concept that sells diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of the retail price, while diverting reusable household items and building materials from area landfills. Proceeds support Habitat’s work building a more equitable New York with communities that have been excluded from the homeownership market by centuries of unjust, racist housing laws and financing mechanisms.
